Our college is scared of losing money to Quiznos of all places, and has thus constructed this establishment;

I apologize for the crappy quality, but I just have a Razr camera, which is a laughable 640×480.

I have a nice little TV, it’s around 36 inches of CRT goodness. It therefore lacks the closely-becoming standard of the High Def televisions on the market today: So when a friend of mine brought over a gift in the form of a VGA adapter for my Xbox, I was intrigued and interested to see just how much of a difference that kind of of pixel-pumping has on my experience. With a crappy pair of speakers on my monitor plugged in I ran it at the low resolution of 1024×768, loaded up Gears of War and picked a stage I felt familiar with and oh my goodness it had a definite difference.
But you shouldn’t take my word on it alone,
I showed miss Heather, the wiser portion of my household the image, even on the smallest screen in the house she immediately said earnestly “we must get an HDTV”
Take that SDTV, poppas gonna have a brand new bag… *quietly* in 12 months.
PS: this device also makes it incredibly easy for me to play Gears and Viva Piñata in my office when I’m stuck grinding in some instance in Warcraft.
Verdict: if you don’t have the HD, buy it immediately.
I had a conversation with an old friend today, and among the things we discussed was the state of the American financial markets, and our layperson opinion was it’s in a shitty shitty spot. I cannot deny it scares and worries me, how can I let myself worry about video games when the world is in a hand basket?
I will, it’s a part of my life – video games are hard to beat in Hays – we all need to realize there are more impressive things in life, and we shouldn’t spend all our time and money on the latest and greatest…
Save some cash, go find a mountain, just don’t forget the GPS with topographic maps.
Okay, Steve, Jon I love the new phone, if I had a better paying job I’d be on it like white on rice, but I would have loved to have a plain-jane widescreen ipod…
but thanks for breaking my future banks.
Chris
Because the video game gods hate me, I’ve been condemned to school this wednesday. I have less than 36 hours of freedom left. A particularly painful twist to the count down would be the act of purchasing school books, in leu of drinking money I’m supposed to ensure my education is fulfilled. At least I can still take my relaxing evenings and succeed in the quest of the foul homework.
I forget how esoteric my knowledge of computers, games, and the arcane warcraft is, having spent half an hour or so shopping with a friend online to spruce up his MacBook Pro, I must thank my father for his geeky nature he imbued upon me. I still have a hankering for the 2d Duke Nukem classics.
Speaking of ancient dos games, CrossOver for the Mac is almost released enabling me to run some windows applications without having to install that dreaded OS on my aluminium baby, so I want to start playing the classic games of yore. Please send me suggestions, but I’m already going to get the older Duke Nukems and Commander Keen 1-3.
I suspect I won’t have enough time in my nights to play epic games regularly, Oblivion will be my last until summer break (hopefully), so expect DS reviews or other short games I can play at my regular job. The Viva Piñata review is almost up, just need to throw it past my editor, she’s harsh so it may be a week till it’s out.
Oh yeah, before I completely forget, the 10th is the MacWorld SF Expo, hit up the IRC or webcasts (is his Jobsness doing it live?) – do it else the mac gods will doom you to virii.
– Keep your noses clean
Apparently Rare hasn’t had a big hit with this game, then again I haven’t gotten my hands on the 2006 sales – which is a shame ’cause the 1up & EGM crew sang nothing but praises for Viva Pinata. Enough so that I finally bit the bullet, accidently swallowed said bullet and visited the local College Health Center to get my stomach pumped and bought an Xbox 360.
Reviews to follow.
