A Quick thought on Bioshock

August 29, 2007

First off: I don’t know jack shit about what’s going to happen in the game, I’m not that far into it. However I do know it gets waaaay more messed up than where I’m at. I also know that i need to redo the entire game, and save all the little sisters….

Better to redo it, huh?
*shrugs* we’ll see.

I still need to rent 2 worlds to see if it’s any good.
it seems like “no” is gonna be the answer, but i’ll be out like 4 bucks.

moon this morning

August 28, 2007

For those of you unlucky enough to be asleep at 4:50+ Am, you just missed out on a really cool lunar eclipse. I say, the moon looks surreal and the full sense that it’s a giant piece of rock hurling around Earth and Sol hits you, I wish we had that more often… and that I had a telescope, my eyes they are weak.

Sucks to be you guys.

Maybe 2 worlds is two too many.

August 28, 2007

Now, I haven’t had a chance to play it yet (I’ll rent it this friday),
but from what I’ve heard it could have been better.

I hope you haven’t bought it on my say so, unlikely but a concern none-the-less.

Happy Hunting.

Bioshocks most awesomely auditory stimulations.

August 26, 2007

2k Boston/2k Australia, formally Irrational Games, was kind enough to release Garry Schymans orchestrations to their latest game, Bioshock. Did I mention it was free and ready to download now?
What are you waiting for, an engraved invitation?

Just beware the splicers my man.

Sony’s Portable Reader System

August 26, 2007

Many times a reviewer gets a piece of hardware to look over by the company. Those guys are lucky. I however get to spend my own money on these toys, a fair bit of money truth be told, and may never get that luxury. This may be to your benefit, especially since I don’t like buying crap, and I hate it even more when my friends buy crap (Nick, come on, Shadowrun? At least you admitted I was right afterwards). I don’t want any of you to make any mistakes I might get into, and I’m far more critical given a good paycheck can go into a single electronic item…

A quick comment on E-ink displays

August 24, 2007

They don’t suck in every fashion, however I still don’t like the refresh rate.

it would have been cool if it was a “magical writing” like in various movies ala Harry Potter.

My library in my bag?

August 22, 2007

Despite my computer and game playing tendencies, the joys of literacy appeal to me more than drink or fame. Several years and many houses ago I wanted desperately to carry my entire library, an ever expanding one, in my backpack — ostensibly to ease escape to Canada when the United States institutes the draft (again), it’s hard to carry a hundred pounds of books and not be conspicuous.

At that time the most affordable eBooks were Passive LCD screened tablets with poor battery life. Heather, ever the loving and pragmatic woman, told me it’d be easier to switch back to windows than convince her I should get that book! So I resigned myself to trudging my heavy books around the world, until one day last year while watching dl.tv’s CES special Sony announced their plans to bring their e-ink books to the United States

At the time of writing this, my Sony Reader left Gardena, CA and should be here tomorrow afternoon. After a thorough geeking I’ll be sure to give you my thoughts.

A game overlooked

August 21, 2007

Without using the word of the day (I’ll give you a hint, it’s electrifying) — I want to let you in on a secret: there’s a game that comes out this week you might wanna play.

I say might wanna play, because I haven’t gotten a chance to play it. It was reviewed back in may by most publications. Two Worlds is supposedly similar to Oblivion but with added functionality, such as multiplayer online worlds, which as near as I can tell (do email me if I’m wrong) is likened to a tabletop session of Dungeons & Dragons. It upsets me that this game had to come out this week when *ahem* Bioshock is coming out.

This game would have been perfect as a summer game. Start off in early June and play with my friends online, a perfect chance to see them while they’re back home during break. Alas I might be able to pick it up for 50 bucks used or cheaper mid-December, but where’s the fun in trying to convince your friends to pick up a copy of this game they’ve never heard of? It’s not as easy when pinatas are not involved.

alas, I’ll have to give it a try, read some more reviews once that other game dies down.

Quick update [EDIT]

August 20, 2007

While I’m not going to spend much time tonight with you, I wanted to inform you what with the help of Uncle Sam I’ve gotten a new address! that’s correct, I was able to buy (on the cheap) chrisleiker.net for not a whole lotta money. Be sure to update your bookmarks, but for those of you who have fear of change – I’m keeping chrisleiker.wordpress.com as well!

Sorry about that, took the night off, – Ed.

Like some regretting, former bachelor I have fewer than 9 hours before I’m whisked away to a full time job getting a career. Will this impact my blogging? Frankly no, it’s hard to limit something that’s rarely ever done. I will take time out of my busy schedule to make sure I can rant about whatever game I get my grubby little hands on… (more…)
