Non-Game related [UPDATED]

September 30, 2007

I know it’s not Halo, but given that I’ve lost sleep because of the newest addition. Last friday Heather and I got a new little kitten for the amusement of our 3 year old Orange cat Jin. Of course it’s only today (sunday!) that htey’re finally able to nap in the same room without meowing and hissing at each other…

I also forgot kittens have irregular hours, whenever you try to sleep they will meow at you.

I’ll try and nap tomorrow,
assuming I don’t get sucked into zelda monday afternoon…

[UPDATE]:
Got a couple choice shots of the kitten in his natural environment — on top of the couch.

At least the plot is less convoluted than Bioshocks. Trying to go free Cortana now…

Handheld vs Consoles

September 27, 2007

As most of you know and some care about, Halo 3 came out this tuesday. My excitement for the final segment of the Master Chiefs epic tale has only been tempered by my memories of Halo 2, (pesky nerfed pistol!) A bigger problem than a grossly underpowered hand gun stymies my ability to play this game — higher education. With school now in session I’ve been limited in my total console playing time to a pathetic 8 hours a week, entirely on the weekend. Leaving me in the unenviable position of having to wait five days with Halo 3 in my possession before I can begin to play this game in the epic setting it (hopefully) deserves. Whereas next Monday I’ll grace GameStop with my presence and snag The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, playing that at work immediately.

Late nights at the Mall; Halo 3

Nothing like a 42 inch LCD to quench the hordes of Halo fanbois hunger for all things headshot.
The ad hoc tournament was pretty sad. Not because of the turnout, that was quite good,
but because one team dominated the entire night with their sick head shots and superior team play.

An old high school friend of mine on break after a tour in Afghanistan. Heading out to Iraq later this year for fun and profit. He couldn’t even buy Halo 3, no xbox. Quite sad, maybe I should make a donation for him.

Yes, finally after years of desire, I have the limited edition, to match my limited halo 2 edition. I managed to play a bit at work (a very contrived setup on a tiny itty bitty desk… better hope the boss doesn’t find out about it. Hmmm!

I’m on the third level right now driving along towards New Mombassa while avoiding the heavy artillery. Thoughts to follow later this week. But a quick one: why did Bungie have the brutes really nice armor “pop” and disappear after you hit them enough times? it throws me out of the game play almost every time….

SLEEP

September 24, 2007

Need sleep, meeting at 4, halo at midnight, work afterwards.

Just a quicky tonight, silly windows

Next week Halo 3 comes out, then the week after that Zelda DS hits the handhelds. Despite my fond memories of headshots and trying to create strategies to womp my friends with, I’m going to end up playing more Zelda than anything for the next few weeks simply because I can play it while at work.
For being only 22, I sure feel old!
Which type of game do you most enjoy, and can you play it at work?

PS: you can cheat, and play bigger games at work, but it’s harder bringing an xbox and TV in without attracting attention…

iPod vs. iPhone, a new race for anorexia

Jeebus, the new iPods are super thin.

What is SecuRom?

September 13, 2007

I must admit it was difficult coming to a proper determination, with a slew of biased and inaccurate information on the internets (*coughForumscough*). But I believe I now understand superficially what it does to your machine. Additionally I’ve gained a sense of how Sony DADC feels about consumers, and it’s not pretty.
