The powers of High Definition
I have a nice little TV, it's around 36 inches of CRT goodness. It therefore lacks the closely-becoming standard of the High Def televisions on the market today: So when a friend of mine brought over a gift in the form of a VGA adapter for my Xbox, I was intrigued and interested to see just how much of a difference that kind of of pixel-pumping has on my experience. With a crappy pair of speakers on my monitor plugged in I ran it at the low resolution of 1024x768, loaded up Gears of War and picked a stage I felt familiar with and oh my goodness it had a definite difference.
But you shouldn't take my word on it alone,
I showed miss Heather, the wiser portion of my household the image, even on the smallest screen in the house she immediately said earnestly "we must get an HDTV"
Take that SDTV, poppas gonna have a brand new bag... *quietly* in 12 months.
PS: this device also makes it incredibly easy for me to play Gears and Viva Piñata in my office when I'm stuck grinding in some instance in Warcraft.
Verdict: if you don't have the HD, buy it immediately.
