Well, after many moons mine is back.
Thank goodness they gave me a free month of Live Gold, I’m pleased at their generosity. After all they set aside three BILLION dollars for me should anything happen to my xbox.

January 9, 2009My life for Aiur! quick thoughts of Starcraft
March 18, 2008The ebb for Blizzards Starcraft 2 (SC2) mania broke last week, prompting an installation of the original Starcraft and expansion. Thankfully for the compact disc-phobic the latest patch for Starcraft, and Warcraft 3, finally allows CD-less play. Even after having its eleventh birthday, the game remains to entertain. The graphic difference between the original and its sequel is impressive, yet familiarity remains.
It seems like the best sequels capture the spirit of the original while simultaneously adding improvements to playability and visuals. New games (that do not suck) of a popular series do not throw out tried-and-true methods for their own sake. When half the population of South Korea knows the subtle nuances in your game, starting anew is not the greatest idea. Blizzard knows this, as what’s been written and discussed by the crews at 1up.com, resonates with this reasoning.
Like high school and first girlfriends, the memories of SC1 are much cooler than reality. For the few of us who will not reinstall the originals, some advice. Do it. It is important both so your skills are honed, and if staying alive for more than 30 seconds on Battle.net is important to you. It will also show you how archaic SC1 really is. It would a far less flame-filled internet if people actually played the games they laid their undying devotion upon.
Professor Layton and the OCD villiage
March 16, 2008Ever wonder if you spend too much time thinking about the obscure? Ponder an existence devoted entirely to solving puzzles? Add overtures of Sherlock Holmes and you get Professor Layton & the curious village.

February 15, 2008connect360: the poor mans Apple TV
February 10, 2008Steve Jobs has done a good job making the Apple TV a desirable media device, especially renting movies. Some of us kids don’t actually have 230 to 330 dollars lying around for apple-related purchases (in spite of how I behave). For less one could get Connect360 for their Xbox 360s. A viable “poor mans alternative” for everyone involved.
Movies, podcasts, and music streaming ho!
Summer Rush
February 2, 2008Disagree if you like, but this summer is going to be full of games I need to play. Last years complaint about not having enough games was simply due to a weak spring.
Games like Devil May Cry 4, Rez HD, S.t.a.l.k.e.r. (hereafter, stalker, damned marketers) theoretically Warcraft’s latest expansion, in addition to whatever gets my attention, may torment me now with their video-y goodness, but this summer when you’re all suffering the drought — replaying Halo on Legendary in the scant hopes you’ll eek a few hours entertainment, I’ll be enjoying all these games for the first time, enjoying myself with out any of those silly stresses. Without balancing school and games I’ll enjoy both (as far as that’s humanly possible) to their maximum potential.
If that isn’t what gaming is about, I do not wish to know.

January 29, 2008Bully on Xbox 360
January 17, 2008As far as it’s concerned the tech news for the remainder of the week blows.
At least Rockstar Games and Rockstar Vancouver are into kicking ass with some awesome news. With Bully: Scholarship Edition, xbox users now have an opportunity to exact revenge on jocks and woo goth and geeks on the Xbox 360, Playstion 2 and Wii. I missed out on the first Bully, and am excited as a peach for this one.
Should Sony fans be worried their machine isn’t on the illustrious list? I don’t think so yet. Development for the Wii isn’t exactly expensive and makes an easy add now that its viability isn’t in question. Why there’s a version for the Xbox? I don’t actually know, but hazarding a guess it’s because they want to sell games for people who’ve either never owned a PS2 (*ahem*) or don’t want one now.
Here’s to hoping the game pans out. However bizarre coming home from school to play a game about school is.
game completion: getting your dollars worth
January 10, 2008Spending 60 dollars on a video game is a serious investment for (most) college students. That’s 400 packages of gourmet ramen noodles. It doesn’t take a rocket science undergrad to realize if you’re spending that much on a game, you should finish the damned thing. Think of the starving children.
Unfortunately for little timmy ethiopian I have a hard time finishing most games I start playing. Oblivion? I’m stuck between various kill quests and trying to determine where to go to actually progress the story. Halo 3? The flood made the 2nd to last level maddening, and I haven’t picked it up since. The list goes on.
The reason I don’t actually finish these games is simple. I get bored easily enough, and when the barrier of starting again is too high — Oblivion I am looking right at you — it’s easier to go to the next greatest thing.™
Should I feel bad about wasting so much ramen?
